A film critic for “The Los Angeles Times” since 1991, Turan is the director of the “Times’s” book prizes, and a regular reviewer for NPR’s “Morning Edition.” A one-time book reviewer and sportswriter for “The Washington Post,” he is the author of six books on the cinema, including one about celluloid pornography and an “autobiography” of Patty Duke. He had a famous public feud with director, James Cameron, who demanded that Turan be fired by the “Times” for his mixed review of Titanic. His reviews can be found at
